When under attack, it is natural to fight back. So, why should Israel have to apologize to Turkey for defending itself? The IDF soldiers had every right to enter the ship as it was in waters that they were blockading. When entering the ship however, they were attacked and fought back in order to survive. The people on the flotilla knew what they were getting themselves into when they conjured up the plan to attack Israeli soldiers upon boarding the ship. Therefore, they knew that the Israeli soldiers were not just going to sit there and accept being attacked, they were going to fight for their lives because that is what they are trained to do.
Not only should Israel not have to apologize to Turkey, but they should not have to or have to feel pressured to pay reparations to the families of those killed on the flotilla. The people who chose to attack knew that it was going to be a life or death situation. They knew they were going there to fight and were willing to risk their lives to do it. If someone is consciously starting a fight why should they get rewarded if they do not make it out in the end. These people on the flotilla purposely put their self in harms why by knowing Israel was going to defend itself when under attack and therefore do not deserve pension to be paid to their families. When someone is searching for and causing violence, they should not be rewarded.
Israel should not be bullied by Turkey into apologizing or paying damages. They are a strong nation that has the right to defend itself just like any other nation. Just because it is Israel, doesn’t mean that the situation should be treated differently. Israel should stand up for itself and its people.
