Going
back a little bit I wanted to reflect on the day we went to the Knesset and the
Supreme Court. Starting off with the Supreme Court I really learned a lot about
how Israeli politics worked. I had no idea that for 70 shekels that you could
bring a case to the court. One thing that really stuck out to me about our
experience at the Supreme Court was when we were all seated and then a large
group of Haredi men came in. We all had to rearrange ourselves to accommodate
the needs of the Haredi. This really upset me and I didn’t like it. I feel like
the Haredi Jews are the most irrational people I’ve ever met. They expect for
you so much to adjust to the way their lifestyle is when you go into their type
into their territory and also to change whatever you are doing to accommodate
their needs. It just doesn’t make sense to me. They put themselves on such a
high Pedi stools and just because they study all they can act the way they do,
it just is not justifiable to me.
When
we went to the Knesset I didn’t really know what to expect going in. The main
room where they hold elections was astounding and blew me away. I find it very
interesting how the people of Israel vote for a single political party then
that part chooses it representative. It was also very cool to see the Israeli
constitution and review that for awhile. I enjoyed the day, and got a lot out
of it. I will defiantly be going back there the next time I’m in Israel.
